About us & Our Visitation Policy

About us and Our Visitation Policy

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. Rocky Oak Cavaliers is located in Northeast Oklahoma on our 18-acre farm nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Our property is heavily wooded with beautiful oak trees and rocky terrain—hence the name Rocky Oak. Alongside our dogs, we also raise dairy goats and a small flock of laying hens.

We have been devoted to Cavaliers for 18 years and take immense pride in the care, health, and ethical breeding of our dogs.

Our Breeding Program

All of our puppies are whelped and raised inside our home until they join their new families. We raise Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, cavatzus( cavalier x shihtzu), and Biewer Terriers. Our purebred dogs are registered with the AKC; however, puppies placed in pet homes receive ACA registration. This policy helps ensure our dogs are not bred without our consent. If you are interested in breeding/show rights, we are happy to discuss that option individually.

Throughout their time in our home, puppies are exposed to normal household noises, regular handling, bathing, and early socialization.

Health, Veterinary Care & Standards

We place the highest priority on the health and well-being of our dogs and puppies.

  • All adults receive routine veterinary care, vaccinations, deworming, and health testing.
  • Only healthy, mature males and females are selected for breeding.
  • Puppies are examined by our veterinarian at least once—typically twice—before going home.
  • Puppies leave with:
    • A comprehensive “head-to-tail” veterinary exam
    • At least two vaccinations
    • Regular deworming
    • Flea and heartworm prevention (Revolution)
    • Early litter-box training
    • Our goal is to provide puppies with the healthiest possible start.

Our No-Visit Policy

We are often asked whether families may visit. While we understand the excitement of meeting your future puppy, we do not allow visitors, and we want to be transparent about why.

1. Disease Prevention

Young puppies have developing immune systems and are highly vulnerable to infectious diseases. Parvovirus and other pathogens can be unknowingly carried in on shoes, clothing, or even car tires after visiting parks, vet clinics, pet stores, or other kennels.

One innocent visit can endanger an entire litter. For this reason, our mothers and puppies remain in our home, separate from outside traffic, until they are old enough and fully protected.

2. Stress on Mother Dogs

Newborn litters require a calm, predictable environment. Introducing unfamiliar people can be extremely stressful for nursing mothers, which in turn affects their puppies. Protective moms may move quickly or unexpectedly, increasing the risk of accidental injury to newborn pups.

3. Fairness to All Families

Your puppy is one of many. Allowing visitors for some but not others would compromise the safety of every litter. Protecting all puppies protects your puppy.

4. Breeder Safety

Unfortunately, breeder theft, and targeted attacks are increasing nationwide. In several cases, individuals posing as buyers have stolen dogs—or worse, harmed breeders. For the safety of our home, our animals, and our family, we do not allow unknown visitors.

For these reasons, our policy is firm: no in-home visits—no exceptions.

How We Keep You Updated

We know how important it is to feel connected to your puppy. We provide weekly or bi-weekly photos and/or videos so you can watch your puppy grow. We are always available for questions, although replies may sometimes be delayed when we are caring for mothers and newborns—our dogs always come first. We will send you a private video of your puppy so you can see he is healthy & happy.

Our Commitment

Our philosophy is “Safety Over Sales.”

We are not here simply to sell puppies; we want to build lasting relationships with the families who take our puppies home. We love receiving updates and watching our puppies thrive in their new environments. We are happy to provide previous buyer references and a veterinarian reference upon request.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We are always happy to answer questions.
