California Sales Policy
Due to recent and upcoming changes in California consumer protection laws governing the sale and transfer of companion animals, we have made the decision not to sell or transfer puppies or dogs to purchasers located in the state of California.
California law, effective January 1, 2026, prohibits contracts that include nonrefundable deposits for dogs, cats, or rabbits and creates legal requirements that differ significantly from those in our home state. These requirements expose small, out-of-state breeders to legal and financial risks that are not feasible for us to assume.
Under this legislation, any contract that includes a non-refundable deposit is considered entirely void. There is no way to phrase the contract to make such a clause acceptable. In practice, this means that if a puppy has been fully paid for and already delivered to the purchaser, the breeder could be required to refund all payments while the purchaser keeps the dog.
To protect our breeding program, our animals, and our ability to continue operating responsibly, we have chosen to limit sales to states whose laws align with our existing contract structure.
This policy is not a reflection of individual buyers, but a business decision based on regulatory compliance and risk management.
We appreciate your understanding.
